It is official, we are closing Scenic Route.
As you can imagine, I have mixed feelings about this but overall I am happy to start a new chapter and adventure. I know it is cliche at times like these to say "I really just want to spend more time with my family" but that, more than anything has been my motivation to let SR go. I am also looking forward to having more time to scrapbook, read, quilt and just chill... it's been a while, I can't wait. I am looking forward to being the student seats at the scrapbook expos and eagerly anticipate new releases at CHA from my favorite brands. I am going to attend crops with my friends and maybe even join a kit club!
I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the last 6 years. I love Scenic Route, the friends I have made, scrapbooking, our employees and the 4 zillion lessons learned.
Here is the official e-mail we sent out... the part the got cut off on the right explains that we'll be at the Ontario and Sacramento Expos in October, if your going to be there, come say hi!

A Bittersweet Farewell
With a landslide of conflicting emotions we have decided to close the doors at Scenic Route. Our last 6 years doing business in the scrapbook industry have been both fun and challenging. Through the years I have learned so much, I know that we can do anything we set our hearts on with a little creativity and a lot of hard work. With that, I am looking forward my next creative adventure.
Thanks to you, Scenic Route had growth year after year culminating in our best month ever in August 2008. Unfortunately, September 2008 brought economic hardships to our company, the scrapbook industry, and this nation.
Thank you so much to all of you who have taken this journey with us and supported our efforts to bring fun and innovative products to the scrapbook industry.

I'm so sad. SR was the very first brand I really felt a connection to back when I was a wee scrappy newbie. Best wishes to you for the future and thank you for all the lovely & awesome creations you put out for us while it lasted!

I can understand the need to stay more focused on the family. You will be missed as will your awesome designs. SR has been my fave mfg for years and I just don't know where I'll go :-)

SRPC is a fave paper company so I was so sorry to read about this. I wish you all the best for your future. Thanks for giving me some great paper to scrap with! I am heartened that you're going out 'on top' - there wasn't a range of yours I didn't love.

I just read this news over on an Aussie site and can't believe it! SR were probably my favourite manufacturer - I have so much of your patterened paper which I don't think I can use now :(
I'm really really sad at this news,but as a mum and human ;-) I can understand the reasons for your decision.
Thankyou for providing me with such beautiful products to make me happy and help me in my creative pursuits

It has been fun getting to know you through this fun industry. Memories are for making and to make more time for your family is a good choice as hard as this is to let go. Family first has always been my choice also.

So Sad to learn of this! Scenic Route has been a contant on my store shelves and in my personal scrapbooking bag of stash from it's birth! Sarah is was wonderful to attend your class at the Susan Gilman shows and to continually offer your creative designs to my customers! My customers are saddened as well! They LOVE using the word strip papers and the background papers...I'll be stocking up!!!! As much as I will miss Scenic Route, I wish you all the best and hope that sometime in the future you'll be back in the industry in one way or another! We look forward to hearing about it!
