Fall Photos at Sundance

I try to take my family up to sundance every year for fall photos. We didn't make it last year, I was pregnant and sick and just wasn't up to it, so I made sure we went this year. We went with some good friends and took about a ba-zillion pictures... seriously.  Here are just a few.

 
 They really do like each other most of the time... Have you ever had that moment when you pat yourself on the back cause your kids are so great, they like each other and never fight, they do what they are told (the first time... as long as we're dreaming) and you actually cooked a meal and ate before 8:00pm.  You're sure you'll be nominated for mother of the year...Then suddenly all hell breaks loose in the next room?  Yeah, we get that about once a week around here... well at least the hell breaking loose part, dinner before 8:00...never, I wouldn't want to completely bury all the other moms in the "Mother of the year" competition.

Amelia is almost a teenager... I am decidedly NOT ready for that. I had no idea I would be so unprepared for the emotional roller coaster, pimples and showering everyday... but my goodness she gets more beautiful every day (I imagine that won't be such a good thing when she's in jr. high with all those adolescent boys) 

 
 

Christopher was unimpressed with the cold, the camera and the goofy parents trying to coax a smile out fo him.

Sad but true...

It is official, we are closing Scenic Route. 

As you can imagine, I have mixed feelings about this but overall I am happy to start a new chapter and adventure. I know it is cliche at times like these to say "I really just want to spend more time with my family" but that, more than anything has been my motivation to let SR go. I am also looking forward to having more time to scrapbook, read, quilt and just chill... it's been a while, I can't wait. I am looking forward to being the student seats at the scrapbook expos and eagerly anticipate new releases at CHA from my favorite brands. I am going to attend crops with my friends and maybe even join a kit club!

I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the last 6 years. I love Scenic Route, the friends I have made, scrapbooking, our employees and the 4 zillion lessons learned.

Introducing Christopher Andrew Milne

He is healthy, happy and just as sweet as can be! We are loving our time together as a family snuggling and getting to know Christopher.

A special thanks to my sister and Mom for being there when he was a born and again to my mom for going above and beyond in the days after at home! Thank You!

Where do you print your digital pictures?

I've used Shutterfly and been happy with the pictures, I also have a wide format printer but find it's a lot of work and certainly doesn't save money.  I just use it for bigger pictures... which I don't do very often.

My biggest challenge is editing and uploading, and lately just taking pictures. I've been thinking about bribing Amelia with a new outfit, not that she complains much about having her picture taken anyway. Josh however has no interest in clothes, he'll require a toy... fortunately Happy Meal toys work just fine.

I dare you!

I know, I know it's dorky... at least it feels dorky. But it's okay and you don't have to show anyone. I am a pretty self conscious person so it takes me a while to warm up to a camera... even when it's just me...

And just think... someday you might even scrapbook them!

Storm front

 

We have had some pretty amazing storm fronts here, they are beautiful to watch come in.  Usually their bark is a lot worse than there bite. It's been pretty feisty looking almost every afternoon for this last week, which is pretty rare here, but has hardly rained at all, at least here in Eagle Mountain.

It doesn't rain that often here but when it does you can smell it coming, that "about to rain" smell is one of my favorite things about summer (along with freshly mown grass).  I especially love it when I've had a productive day playing or working outside and then it rains just in time for an afternoon nap... I open the window, listen to the rain and fall asleep to the pitter patter...love it.

Utah is a really beautiful place to live.  If you love snow it's fabulous year round, am a more spring-summer-fall myself ans far the outdoors go.  I really prefer to be safe and warm inside during the winter.

Provo Canyon is one of my favorite places to hang out for a day.  The Provo River Trail goes about 12 miles into the canyon and as a teenager I would rollerblade about 7 miles up and then fly like a bat out of hell down---I would die if my kids tried it, I mean I didn't even wear a helmet! But anyway, that wasn't my point... I still love to go up there.  There are nice parks all over the place, a cool waterfall, a beautiful river and shadedcamp grounds.  We go up to Nunn's Park which is onlyy 8 or so miles into the canyon and only 35 minutes from home. If I were in any condition to be walking any great distance there is a paved path to Bridal Veil falls that's probably a mile and a half. It's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. 

Because it isn't to far we can stop at the store, pick up hot dogs and marshmallows and stay for a few hours, even on a week night.  We often go with our friends, they bring guitars and play around the campfire... to me, that is doing summer right!
